{"id":4264,"date":"2023-06-09T09:04:27","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T13:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncocra.org\/WordPress_v1\/?p=4264"},"modified":"2025-06-28T13:09:01","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T17:09:01","slug":"point-me-in-the-right-direction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncocra.org\/WordPress_v1\/2023\/06\/09\/point-me-in-the-right-direction\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Field Day&#8230;Point me in the right direction"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>Original post date July 2019 by W1KES<\/pre>\n<p>Dan KR4UB accepted the satellite challenge for Field Day, a noble challenge indeed.\u00a0 Aiding his effort, Dan reclaimed and repurposed available parts and materials to build an industrial strength satellite antenna boom&#8230;materials and instructions follow.\u00a0 Nicely done Dan!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>army surveyors tripod non magnetic construction, no ferrous metals added below to disturb compass reading.<\/li>\n<li>left over 2&#8243; PVC electrical conduit and elbow..<\/li>\n<li>some ironwood strips inside the PVC to take the floppy\/flexy out and balance out weight of antenna.<\/li>\n<li>wood doweling, epoxy, brass screws to reinforce compass support elbow butt glue joint onto PVC elbow<\/li>\n<li>good quality surveyor&#8217;s compass bought to rough out new boundaries when\u00a0 purchasing adjoining land some years back<\/li>\n<li>section of left over central vacuum cleaner return pipe (near perfect fit over PVC electrical pipe).. rotates for quick antenna polarization adjustment.<\/li>\n<li>Brass\u00a0 screws (where used) so no ferrous metal near compass<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrowantennas.com\/arrowii\/146-437.html\">Arrow VHF\/UHF<\/a> gamma matched antenna.
